Peak Performance = Passion + Power + Persistence + Patience
When we are aligned with what drives us; our passion, it is easy to do what is needed to be done to get to where we want to be. We are driven to accomplish these things in our life. We only need motivation when we have to do something that does not align directly with our passion.
How easy is it to jump out of bed and do something that you are truly passionate about, compared to something that you have to do, but don’t really want to do it?
“Where attention goes, energy flows.” (James Redfield). Our mind focuses on what we give importance to and if we focus on what we are passionate about, it is virtually effortless to follow through.
The key here is to find an alignment with our passion even if it is indirect. If I accomplish this task then it brings me one step nearer to my real goal.
Put some power behind your intention. “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” (Norman Vincent Peale). If you want to only achieve 10% of what you are capable of then put in only 10% effort, if you want the whole 100% then drive it home. Put in the time, effort and commitment to make it happen. It is easier to complain that it wasn’t our day, our time, we didn’t have this or that. Get serious, if you want it it’s there for the taking. There’s no time like the present.
We have all heard the saying, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again. We may not be successful the first time we attempt something new or are trying to motivate ourselves to do something that we do not want to. Those who persist with eventually prevail. You cannot prevail if you give up at the first hurdle. Remind yourself again of why you are doing this and the rewards of accomplishing your goals. Visualise and mentally rehearse the end game right now and keep your eye on that vision. If you have a bad day, that happens to us all, pick yourself up and pick up your pace the day after. Keep on showing up day after day until your vision becomes a reality.
This takes, of course, patience. You cannot plant a seed and demand that it grows quicker, even if you give it plenty of water and sunlight, it will grow in its own time and keep looking at it every half hour does not help either. Cultivate the art of patience. As the saying goes, everything comes to those that wait. Do all that you can and then trust that your efforts will be rewarded.
At the peak of passion, when you are truly inspired, seize the moment and act. Use your power to fuel your passion and persistence and patience to follow it through.
